The Cole-Parmer® industrial bimetal thermometers feature NEMA 4X/IP66 protection for demanding applications. Accuracy is ±1% of full scale when the stem is immersed 2" in liquids or 4" in gases. For models with a 2.5" stem length, the stem should be immersed 2" in gases. Stem length is measured from the top of the threads to the bottom of the stem tip. The stem diameter is 0.25" with a ½" NPT(M) back connection. The maximum overtemperature for thermometers with a maximum temperature of 250°F is 100% of span, while thermometers with a maximum temperature of 550°F have a maximum overtemperature of 50% of span. The ambient temperature range is –40 to 200°F (–40 to 93°C).

Bimetal thermometers read motion created by two dissimilar metal strips that change in length when the temperature rises. This reading is represented by a needle on an analog dial or by a digital measurement.
